Overview

The league format changed from the previous season returning back into the usual 18 clubs league format. All clubs meat each other twice, once home and once away. The bottom two clubs were relegated into the Second League of FR Yugoslavia with the 15th and 16th placed clubs playing a play-off against the respectively 4th and 3rd placed from the second league.

At the end of the season FK Partizan won the championship.

The top-scorer with 16 goals was Dejan Osmanović from FK Hajduk Kula.
